Your first appointment is a comprehensive 75-90 minute evaluation. We'll discuss your mental health history, current concerns, lifestyle factors, and goals. Together, we'll create a personalized treatment plan that may include medication, therapy techniques, lab work, or lifestyle strategies.
No referral is needed. You can schedule directly with us.
We provide care for children, adolescents, and adults. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent and may be asked to participate in appointments.
Contrast Mental Health is based in Minnesota. We primarily serve Minnesota patients and also offer telehealth care to patients in Arizona.
Appointments take place via secure, HIPAA-compliant video through our SimplePractice platform. You'll receive a link before your appointment. All you need is a private space, a device with a camera, and a stable internet connection.
You must be physically located in Minnesota or Arizona at the time of your appointment due to telehealth licensing regulations. If you're traveling outside these states, we'll need to reschedule.
No. For privacy and safety reasons, you must be in a private, quiet space where we can have a confidential conversation. Appointments cannot be conducted while driving.
We treat a wide range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, insomnia, and more. See our Conditions Treated page for details.
We can prescribe controlled substances when clinically appropriate, following strict state and federal regulations. This requires an established treatment relationship, regular follow-up appointments, and compliance with our medication protocols.
Request refills at least 3 business days before you run out by messaging through the client portal. Refills are processed during business hours only.
We integrate psychotherapy techniques—including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI)—into every session. This is included at no extra cost; you don't need to see a separate therapist for basic therapeutic support.

We accept credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. A card must be kept on file. Self-pay fees are due at the time of service; insurance-related patient responsibility depends on your plan and benefits.
Please contact us before scheduling to discuss available payment options. Where applicable, we can provide a Superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Benefits and reimbursement vary by plan and are not guaranteed.
Please provide at least 24 hours notice. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. Multiple missed appointments may result in discharge from the practice. See our Policies page for details.
